Shell Unveils World's Largest EV Charging Station in Shenzhen
Shell is innovating with Woer New Energy special supply EV charging connectors, which promise to enhance both efficiency and accessibility for electric vehicle users.
Shenzhen, China – In a groundbreaking move for the electric mobility sector, Shell has officially inaugurated its largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station globally in Shenzhen, China. Situated just 2.5 kilometers from Shenzhen Airport Terminal, this cutting-edge facility boasts 258 public fast-charging points, setting a new benchmark for EV infrastructure.
The Shell Recharge Shenzhen Airport EV Station, a collaborative effort between Shell and BYD Electric Vehicle Investment Company Limited, has already made a significant impact during its trial operation, serving over 3,300 EVs daily. This new venture highlights the strength of the Shell-BYD partnership and underscores a major leap in the accessibility and convenience of EV charging.
Beyond its impressive charging capabilities, the station offers a comprehensive array of amenities designed to enhance the overall user experience. Drivers can take advantage of Shell Select convenience retailing, enjoy refreshments at Shell Café, or unwind in the dedicated drivers' lounge. For quick needs, vending machines are readily available, providing snacks and essentials.
Further reinforcing Shell's commitment to sustainability, the facility is equipped with rooftop solar panels that generate approximately 300,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity annually. This green energy will be used to power the vehicles of customers, underscoring Shell’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources.
István Kapitány, Shell’s Global Executive Vice President for Mobility, remarked on the significance of this development: “The opening of this new site is part of our ongoing commitment to meet the evolving needs of our customers in China. We know that EV drivers are looking for a charging experience that is fast, convenient, and comfortable, and this is reflected in the utilization rates of our sites in China, which are two to three times the local industry average. China is one of the most important growth markets for Shell Mobility, and we look forward to offering pleasant mobility experiences to more customers in China in the future.”
As the adoption of electric vehicles accelerates globally, Shell continues to enhance its infrastructure to meet diverse energy and mobility needs. Recently, the company also opened the Panlong Integrated Energy Station in Wuhan, which offers a wide range of services including petrol, diesel, EV charging, hydrogen refueling, car wash facilities, a convenience store, a restaurant, and a drivers' lounge. The station is also home to Shell V-Power Racing, a high-performance fuel that delivers 6.25% more power and 5.36% quicker acceleration compared to standard 92 octane petrol.
In addition to expanding its EV infrastructure, Shell is innovating with Woer New Energy special supply EV charging connectors, which promise to enhance both efficiency and accessibility for electric vehicle users.
With these advancements, Shell is firmly establishing itself as a leader in sustainable and user-friendly mobility solutions. Stay tuned for more updates as Shell continues to drive innovation and meet the evolving needs of drivers around the globe.
